I am super excited to share some images of our guest bedroom refresh! I’ve been working hard on this room for the past couple of months and it’s finally all come together! To be honest, there wasn’t much that I needed to do to this room, but it has been about 4 years since I last touched it, so it was time to really dive in and finish it. You know that feeling when something doesn’t feel 100% complete? That’s how I always felt about this room. It was fine, but it wasn’t “done”. It was missing a lot of little finishing touches and it never felt cozy!
I really wanted to create a space that our guests LOVED to stay in, so I focused on making sure the room had the things that I need when traveling. A full length mirror, access to wi-fi, a super cozy bed, space for luggage, a tv with Netflix so I can veg out at night, a house key, and toiletry essentials in the bathroom.
I am so proud of this space and can’t wait for our first visitor! Who’s coming to stay?!
Because I’m neurotic, I always make sure to mock up everything I am considering for the space before purchasing. I just want to see it all together so I don’t have to make a bunch of returns if something isn’t the right fit. This was my mood board with all the items linked below!
PINK CHAIR / NIGHTSTAND / BRASS DRAWER PULLS / ARTWORK / DOT PILLOW / MUSTARD PILLOW / CIRCLE MIRROR / RUG / MACRAME PLANT HANGER / BRASS TABLE / PRINT / HEADBOARD
The pink chair and the Laura Berger art print (framed beautifully by Framebridge) were the inspiration for the room. I really wanted those pieces to shine so I kept everything else pretty neutral, but with lots of texture so the room feels comfortable and “lived in”. The headboard from Article is a really beautiful rich leather and it’s masculine vibe is a really great balance to the pink velvet chair.
The side tables are from Ikea, but we added the brass pulls we found at CB2 to the front to make them a little more exciting. I love the way they turned out. The table has a small opening in the back to run a phone charger through so our guests have a place to stash and charge their phones at night!
We did end up buying and returning those mustard velvet pillows from CB2. When we received them they were much closer to a pesto color, not mustard, so they didn’t work with the Laura Berger artwork above the bed (side note: they’ve now changed the description of the pillows on their website to reflect the true color). It was such a bummer because I loved those pillows, they just clashed too much! Instead I ended up going to Joann Fabrics and picking out a great black and white upholstery fabric and sewing that long lumbar pillow on the bed and the bolster pillow on the pink chair. I am super happy with how those turned out! It was my first time back on my sewing machine in about 2 years and it made me miss sewing so I might be trying some more projects in the future.
The rug was soooo inexpensive that I felt like I was making a major gamble when I ordered it. When it arrived I could not believe how cozy and durable it was! It fit the space perfectly and it warms everything up. I definitely recommend this one if you are looking for something simple and cozy, but don’t want to really shell out for a pricey rug.
I am still toying with the idea of adding a ceiling light or a fan. I love having a fan at night when I sleep, but light fixtures are just so much prettier! What do you think??
Anyway, that’s it! Hope you love this room as much as we do! Feel free to shop our favorite items below.
