This past long weekend Mike and I were able to sneak away to Santa Barbara for a little break. We had been wanting to head up there and stay at The Goodland for awhile now, so for Chirstmas we decided to forego presents and plan this little getaway instead! Although I love gifts (it's definitely my love language) I would choose a trip over a physical gift any day. Nothing beats relaxing and spending some serious quality time with the one you love.
This trip was just that. We brought our beach cruisers with us and spent the majority of the weekend just cruising around State Street, eating some incredible food (I'm looking at you, The Lark), and getting a little R&R by the pool.
The Goodland was absolutely beautiful and even better than we expected. It's super pet friendly, so we brought Sawyer and were stoked to find we had been upgraded to a suite when we checked in! There was tons of space for Sawyer to hang out while we were out during the day exploring and they even provided a dog bed and food and water bowls in the room for him!
While there, we even spotted a couple pillows I designed hanging out on some cool chairs on the rooms patios! That was a super fun surprise! (Shop them here and here)
The restaurant at The Goodland, Outpost, was awesome and we enjoyed brunch there after complimentary yoga by the pool on Sunday morning. Honestly, this trip could not have been better. We were able to unplug a little bit, get outside in the sun, and catch up with each other on a very real level.
Mike and I are trying to travel more this year. Last year was so consumed by wedding planning and settling into our new home that we didn't get out as much as we would have liked. 2016 is going to be different! As of right now we are super looking forward to our trip out to Boston with my family this summer. I haven't been back East in a good long while and Mike's never been, so it will be fun to show him around and spend some time with the people I love most!
Anyway, if you have the chance, head to Santa Barbara for a a night or two. We highly recommend it!
